VEX V5 Robotics Competitions are played on a 12’ x 12’ square field. Two (2) Alliances – one (1) “red” and one (1) “blue” – composed of two (2) Teams each, compete in matches consisting of a fifteen (15) second Autonomous Period, followed by a one minute and forty-five second (1:45) Driver Controlled Period.
High Stakes Field
The new VRC game High Stakes was revealed at the end of the 2023-2024 season. It features a reimagining of the 2010-2011 VRC game Round-Up, focusing on comparing how the new V5 components perform over the pre-V5 era of VEX. This year's fame elements are rings, which are scored on different stakes around the field, with 5 on mobile platforms. There is also a large climbing ladder in the center of the field, over 4 feet tall, boasting the highest field elements a VEX game has ever had. There’s even an interesting twist with the mobile goals, as depending on which corner a mobile goal with rings is placed in, the point value of the rings is either doubled or turned negative. This will bring an exciting strategic element to this year’s game!
